As a Politician: As a student, Hakeem Ayaz Hashmi took an active part in the active politics. His upfront participation in meetings and demonstrations against corruption, red-tapism and obscenity through media made him a popular speaker while in college. As a member of the National Students Union of India in college at Amroha and Deoband, he took part in various activities connected with problems of common man. His fire-brand words and heartily loathing for corruption and obscenity bought him a huge fan following at his study places. He served as President of Block Youth Congress Committee Amroha from 2004 till he was elected as State General Secretary Youth Congress (I) Minority Cell on 21 Aug 2004. Youth & Social: Hakeem Ayaz Hashmi was drawn to social and political movements right since his early youth days owing to prevailing political ambiance within his family and home. He witnessed active loyalty with Congress party since his childhood. Hakeem Ayaz Hakeem was drawn to social and political movements right since his early youth days owing to prevailing political ambiance within his family and home.His pull to social and political movements have been, therefore, automated and natural. However, the major transition in his life when he read a book on Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The charisma and magnetism of Rajiv Gandhi’s persona were enough to mesmerize the young Hashmi. Since then, Hakeem Ayaz Hashmi practically imbibed the traits of Shri Rajiv Gandhi into himself. Hakeem Ayaz Hashmi has been very close to his mother since his childhood. This proximity gave him an insight to feel the pain & agony of a common man. He always made it a point that the weaker sections of society especially rural women receive their share of privilege and education. He is presently on the panel of directors of Hashmi Girls Degree College, Amroha Muslim Girls inter College, Hakim Mehtabuddin Hashmi College of Law and Hashmi Charitable Clinic. He is also Associate Member of Delhi State Haj Committee,(Govt of National Capital Territory of Delhi) since 03 Jan 2006. He has been highly instrumental in setting up of HALTA (Hashmi Academia of Lateral Thinking Achievement) Trust which works for AIDS patients, homeless people and rural women of Uttar Pradesh. He is President of HALTA Trust.
Awards: Hakeem Ayaz Hashmi has been conferred with fellowship by The Rural Health Society, Kolkatta (F.R.H.S.) for his effective social work and contribution towards service to weaker sections of society. F.W.S.I.M.(USA) has also awarded fellowship to him for his valuable contribution towards research work in medicines.
